Melissa Maimann brings over two decades of healthcare experience spanning over a decade of midwifery private practice, all facets of hospital midwifery care and regulatory board / council experience as a professional member and practitioner member.  Melissa holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management / UNSW and she holds the requisite degrees and registration as an Endorsed Midwife, creating a unique blend of clinical experience, business expertise, consulting and coaching best practice for midwife, health practitioner and doula clients.  Melissa’s consultancy is informed by real-life successes and challenges, providing you with actionable strategies to navigate the complexities of private midwifery practice and doula practice.   • Pioneered one of the first successful collaborative private midwifery / private obstetric models of care in Australia, being an all-risk model inclusive of home and hospital birth with private obstetric back-up

  • 9 years of experience as a Professional Member of the NSW Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).  The NMC is responsible for managing complaints about the conduct, performance and health of registered health practitioners.

  • 9 years of experience as a Practitioner Member of the NSW Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).  The NMBA is responsible for registration decisions about individual practitioners as well as establishing standards, codes and guidelines for nurses and midwives, employers, students and the public.

  • Melissa holds a Master of Business Administration; this degree provides rigorous training in all aspects of business management such as financial management, human and resource management, business communications and marketing, applied problem solving, leadership, negotiations and strategy.

  • Understanding how to formulate, implement, measure and leverage strategies to drive sustainable business growth and success.

  • Health Care Management experience with responsibilities including staffing, regulatory compliance, education, clinical care, quality and risk-management.
